FD-SOI Adaptive Body Bias Solutions to accelerate energy-efficient SoC designs and push the boundaries of 5G, IoT and Automotive Applications

Worst-case design and post silicon tuning are well-established digital design practices reducing timing violations in presence of process, temperature, aging and voltage variations but they suffer from significant extra power consumption due to overdesign. To improve the energy efficiency and reliability of system-on-chip (SoC), Dolphin Integration in collaboration with GlobalFoundries has developed a disruptive low-power solution leveraging body bias for a wide range of high-growth applications such as 5G, IoT and automotive.

Dolphin Integration has developed a series of off-the-shelf adaptive body bias solutions (ABB) for accelerating and easing body bias implementation on SoC designs. ABB is a unique FDSOI feature that enables designers to leverage forward and reverse body bias techniques to dynamically compensate for process, supply voltage, temperature (PVT) variations and aging effects to achieve additional performance, power, area and cost improvements beyond those from scaling alone.
